Coursework: Preliminary exercise feedback and LR

1) Type up your teacher's feedback in full plus a summary of the comments you received from other students in the class.

Teacher feedback:
  • opening focus pull is great
  • pace and editing of conversation is excellent ( audio quality too)
  • the cross cutting is very effective and I can see this working in a trailer too
  • Framing of shots for conversation contains a fair amount of dead space- if re shooting, get in tighter when framing the shot
  • overall REALLY impressive, well done!
class comments:

  • amazing, entertaining and full of effect
  • editing cut between conversation and done really well
  • adjust audio levels
  • great music and industry, maybe frame the interview shots much closer
  • good music choice
  • acting roles were effective
  • little unclear
  • great use of shots and good concept
  • dialogue was paced too fast
  • good acting
  • good cinematography
  • good story line
  • sick acting
  • concept is clever
  • solid acting

2) Using a combination of your own reflection on the preliminary exercise and the feedback you were given, write three WWW bullet points and three EBI bullet points for your TV drama scene

WWW: Good use of cinematography and technical aspects to create the Intense atmosphere
              Acting made it believeable
Auidiences could feel the tension in the characters behaviours
EBI: making the narrative a little clearer
         More modern editing
          Fix the dead space

3) How effectively did you complete the objective you laid out in your mini preliminary exercise statement of intent?

I felt like I effectively met the brief for the preliminary exercise and it reflected my statement of intent as I covered my main narrative In The span of 45 seconds

4) What have you learned from the preliminary exercise that will help you in the actual coursework project?

I have learned the importance of mise-en-scene and the layout of a specific scene- to remove dead space to make a scene more effective and more professional

5) Now you have completed the preliminary exercise, will you change anything in your actual TV drama trailer? This could include narrative, character and script or technical elements such as mise-en-scene, camerawork and sound.

I will ensure I have no dead space as well as work on editing skills that will reflect a more modern landscape-this will also create a more effective narrative that will be communicated a lot clearer
