Coursework: Ignite presentation learner response

1) Type up your feedback in full including the ratings out of five for each of the six categories.

  • research- 5
  • concept- 4
  • media language-3
  • representation- 4
  • audience+industries- 5
  • delivery- 3
  • The title has got people talking! nice reflection on the tagline, perhaps pitch some ideas in the Q&A
  • I like the 3 part drama and the intertextual noir-Esque feel plus the wealth of the characters could certainly create audience appeal
  • some reference to narrative theory+structure
  • media language is addressed with all aspects addresses but some of this is too general. One to reflect on for the statement intent re-draft
  • mise-en-scene - costume - androgynous element  i really like...interesting and offers something different
  • representation builds on this nicely
  • The audience : very impressive with research, consideration of what audiences may like by gender etc..
  • C4 absolutely the right home for this concept
  • digital promotion clearly thought out to
  • reflect on the concept- does it fit the family element of the brief ? what type of criminals will make up the main characters? is planning 5 main characters too ambitious?
  • Q&A handled confidently and in some depth- excellent discussion and development of ideas.
  • clearly open to feedback and suggestions

2) Use this feedback, comments from peers and your own reflection on your presentation to self-assess and write a detailed WWW and EBI for your own coursework concept and presentation as a whole.
  • WWW: In-depth research and audience + industries, clever use of intertextual and pastiche to film noir and Tarantino style narratives. the detailed audience research has helped me create relatable characters and concepts with my narrative
  • EBI: concept was slightly more detailed and well developed and didn't have as many narrative gaps.meeting the brief more in terms of having a 'good' protagonist that the audience can sympathise more with
3) Write a paragraph discussing how your presentation will lead into your actual coursework production. Do you need to update your statement of intent? Does your narrative offer enough clarity? Is it appropriate for the audience specified in the brief? Does it fit the genre you are aiming for? Can you add media terminology or theory to your statement of intent now you have reflected on your presentation and seen others?

  • from the feedback of my presentation, I have drastically modified my concept to make it slightly more 'do-able' and realistic therefore I will be updating and changing my statement of intent to fit my new narrative with the updated representations and characters etc... My new concept does offer enough clarity and the feedback from my peers has helped me make the narrative clearer and easier to communicate in a trailer format, Dressed for conviction was on thin ice in terms of the audience specified as it only briefly met the criteria. The genre was effectively conveyed as Dressed for Conviction was a typical crime narrative with theft and robbery. I will add more terminology to the statement of intent as from watching others and gaining feedback I lack or I have generalised my terminology too much as havent specified excatly
