editing video learner response

1) Type up your feedback/comments from your teacher.

  • outstanding script- but i think on occasion you were over the shoulder of the actor speaking. This is fine to get a reaction shot but generally you should be focused on the person speaking
  • focus slightly out at the beginning -and did the frame changing through the production? check sequence settings
  • met the brief brilliantly- so impressive overall

2) Type up your feedback from fellow students.

-great narrative
-slightly grainy but fixed up at the end
-no over the shoulder or match on action was out of sync
-lighting needed to be fixed
-everything worked perfectly
3) Now reflect on your video. Did you meet the brief and successfully include the three key editing aspects we have learned?

i feel that i successfully met the brief because i had covered all the key aspects needed to meet the brief.I feel that my match on action worked well as there was no points where it was out of sync. My over the shoulder shot also was in sync however at some points where i character was speaking i felt that i should've used a different shot for when they were speaking instead of the reaction of the other characters.i also successfully kept the 180 degree rule.
4) What were the strengths and weaknesses of your final film?

strengths

  • script writing and acting
  • successful match on action
  • good understanding of how an over the shoulder shot works
  • my elements of Mise-en-Scene worked well together and made an effective short film

Weaknesses

  • some of the over the shoulder shots didn't  match who was speaking
  • the lighting could have been improved to make a better quality video
  • some sound was  muffled so i could've tried to fix that
  • some of the framing was uneven

5) Learner response: what aspect of editing did you find most difficult? What have you learned from this process that will help you when you start the actual coursework later this year

i found that getting the match on action correct and making it seem seamless was most difficult as i really needed to zoom in and find the exact moment to cut and merge.I also found that i should've recorded multiple takes of the same conversation so i could've had more variety in picking which over the shoulder shots i could've used. From this process i have learned that i should take more than one shot of the scene and make sure that when i am editing i have a good quality and that my framing is consistent throughout. I also learned that lighting is very important , more than i expected, in creating an overall strong effect. i am going to make sure that in the future for when i do my coursework i look at every aspect carefully to make sure its perfect for making a successful final product.
