This opening for the Netflix/CW series Riverdale has a variety of cinematography shots to capture realism and effect for the audience.As the clip begins we see a selection (montage) of extreme long shots or establishing shots that have a voice over explaining that these shots are places in riverdale. Then there is a very long shot of a car driving along a road and it could be a crane shot as the camera moves and emerges from some trees to expose the car and the characters. The shot then cuts to an extreme close up to both of the characters hair and then to a big closeup to a hand on a wheel. Furthermore there is then a tracking shot of the car driving through a green wood this shot is taken from multiple different angles. A closeup of a hand then appears, and then a shoe to suggest they are getting out of the car. There is then a medium long shot of the two characters which transitions into a medium close up of them holding hands and walking towards a boat in a rive. There is then a closeup of the female character(Cheryl blossom) who looks at the other male character(Jason blossom) and he has a big closeup of his face on the screen. There are then multiple long shots of them rowing into the river. the camera switches to the sky , which is now grey and stormy, to introduce a storm , there is then a steady tracking shot of the water which transitions to a low angle shot of another character and then a high angle shot of the female character who has just been an accident and is very vulnerable. the characters exchange a few glances and then a closeup of Cheryl blossoms face emerges of her looking scared, upset and vulnerable. A long shot of an emergency rescue boat with Cheryl and her parents appears which then gets closer and closer to Cheryl face that it turns into a closeup. It then transitions to long shots of the police, other families and characters. There is then a medium over the shoulder close up of another character and then a closeup of his hands typing on computer , the screen and then his face, Lastly there are some long shots of the river , Then closeups till the clip ends
2) How does the camerawork give the audience clues about the setting, narrative and character?
setting: the camera work allows clues to let the audience know of the setting through the closeups of the river , establishing shots of the town as well as tracking shots of the car that goes through the town and a forest which then stops at the river .
narrative: The use of a lot of establishing/extreme long shots of the town and the town sign signify that the narrative is going to be based around the location
Character: the closeups of the hair, glove , face and shoes of the female suggest that she is going to play significant part in the narrative

this still from stranger things 2, a netflix original series,is a an example of a medium long shot with two characters at present. This still is meant to show the imbalance in superiority and power with these two characters. The larger inhuman character has a bigger and more powerful presence than the smaller boy i the front who is more powerless and vulnerable. To an audience member this may communicate that the boy is in danger but cant do anything about it, The medium long shot captures this effectively as the audience can feel a sense of worry for the boy.

The fact this still is taken from low angle shows that this character is vert dominant and aggressive and has a lot of power therefore the camera looks up to him. To the audience this indicates that Thanos is an ultimate villain, which has been effectively communicated, who is very precarious and threatening .

This shot communicates danger and worry for this character as her hands are up and she is staring at something that is posing as a threat to her which creates suspense and worry for the audience. The medium shot is effective as it doesn't show what is exactly threatening her , it only shows the reaction of her which adds to the tense environment.
this still from harry potter and the philosopher stone is a mid low angle shot . This shot matches the context of the picture as harry finds a wand that has chosen him. The low angle shot suggests a strong gaining of power and strength, The wand is more prominent than harry in this still which emphasizes the power the wand has which harry is now going to possess this gives the idea to the audience that harry is going to have a lot of power and dominance in this film.
