sound analysis

Find a film clip on YouTube that uses sound in an interesting way. Analyse the use of sound, making sure you use the key language we have learned about sound in film:
Diegetic and non-diegetic sound
  • Parallel and contrapuntal sound
  • Sound bridges
  • Music
  • Dialogue
  • Voiceover
  • Sound effects
this clip from reservoir of dogs is an example of contrapuntal sound because its a very gruesome torture scene but the music seems very uplifting and upbeat which is a heavy contrast. Also the sound is diegetic because  the character turns on a radio and that piece carries out through the whole scene. What adds to the scene being diagetic is the fact that there is still dialogue between the characters which makes it seem more realistic and as if it was shot in a real time. The fact the music is uplifting and the scene is quite gruesome could suggest that the villian in the scene may be losing a sense of reality as he seems to be happy and dancing along with the music while he has a dead person on the floor and someone on the verge of life and death so perhaps the music reflects the villains mind set and how villainous he is
